Artist's Statement
It is instinctive to feel the need to express yourself purposefully. Coming from an amateur writing background, having written a handful of short stories to share with a humble writer’s club, I have learned that there is much to reveal about yourself and what you (secretly or not) enjoy indulging your passions in, through your words and writing style, and story topics you choose to write.
My curiosities lie in the world of the unknown, which can only be captured by imagination: creating creatures and scenarios that are an extension of a collective psych and an individual, more personal psych. We all have but one life, so why not make it fantastical?
For reasons that even I cannot explain, I have this ticking tock mentality. Therefore, I am on a quest to find it in myself to create something different or shocking (or even horrific!) to amaze us, to stop us in our tracks, and to make us think about how weird or complicated life has the potential to actually be — be it in our relationships to other people, or our relationship to the world and to ourselves. Consequently, what I find fascinating and worth emotionally investing in is the development of characters in an art piece, and that is what I would like to establish as well.
I want life to be more than living… to be a deliberately oddly shaped composition of love, fear, hate, shock, and even dead silence, if it means we will still feel something beating inside. I will strive to create films that deal with taking life and upgrading it so that its reflection will be something of the bizarre, a jolt to reality.
